THE KLAMATH RIVER
After traveling some 250 miles from its headwaters in Oregon the mighty Klamath River meets and mingles with the Pacific Ocean by the small town of Klamath California which is about twenty miles south of Crescent City on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.
The scenery is spectacular, the wildlife is abundant and the salmon and steel head fishing is the best in the west.
With over 50 riverfront acres in the heart of the Redwood National Park and 3000 feet of river frontage, Klamath's Camper Corral is the ideal base camp for Chinook salmon, Coho salmon, steelhead trout and rainbow trout kayak fishing.
The river is considered prime habitat for the spring run of salmon which begins in April to May continues until August 2008.
The fall salmon run begins in mid August and the run usually lasts until the end of October. The Klamath and Trinity River systems were declared OPEN for the 2008 Fall Fishing Season while other rivers in California remain closed.
